Marking techniques - Marking of coated workpieces
Coated workpieces can be marked by ablation of their coating. In other words, contrast is obtained by uncovering the basic material. This technique is e.g. used for the so-called day&night design: Here an image is obtained through the ablation of one layer of a multi-layer lacquer coating on plastic parts using a laser. In this process, the light-colored original plastic material is uncovered. Lighting up the keyboard makes the keys perfectly visible even at night.
In addition to these uses, typical applications are type plates made of anodised aluminium, as well as coated laser films.
